Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $300,000 Irresistible Pools Sheraco Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens.
Tommy Berry (Sunshine In Paris): “I’m not sure if I’m smiling about today or what’s to come with her.
“You saw in the yard, she has just got so much improvement when it comes to her coat. I couldn’t hide my excitement after I galloped her last Saturday. She just put in one of those bits of work where you get goosebumps.
“She was the meat in the sandwich today. She was in the middle, she was taking Joliestar into the race and when I first let down I thought, well she can’t beat me because they don’t go any quicker than what I’m going.
"I just had to pick up Mumbai Muse, who I know very well and who is very tough.
"But it was like a target was put on her and she ran in towards her, she copped a smack over the head at the 100. She was just terrific.”
Sunshine In Paris wins the Sheraco Stakes
Chad Schofield (Mumbai Muse): “Huge run. We had the perfect race. Probably the tempo was probably too quick. Just brought the winner into it that little bit more. My horse was really good. Travelled, quickened and sustained it to the line. Took a good one to beat her today.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Joliestar): “I was pleased with her run still. It was a bit of a funny race. We had to just come back behind Sunshine In Paris to get some cover. And then after a furlong, they went at a solid pace and just after that devastating win the other day, she popped out to make headway all the way up the running but she didn’t sort of dash like she did the other day. Just a bit of a funny run race for us where we ended up being positioned.”
Regan Bayliss (Royal Merchant): “Just needed the run today. She will get better the deeper she gets into her prep.”
Dylan Gibbons (Tiz Invincible): “She has run well. They just ran it at a speed they couldn’t really quicken. She just had to dig deep. Tried hard.”
Rachel King (Belclare): “She jumped really well. Her saddle slipped a long way back and she just ran on fear for the first half.”
Zac Lloyd (Makarena): “She has come back really well. It was a bit unfortunate the leader going that quick. My mare first up having to cart the field up. She was bound to probably not quicken as well as she could. She will take a lot of improvement from that.”
