Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $300,000 James Squire Run To The Rose (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens.
Zac Lloyd (Traffic Warden): “That’s a top-notch feeling.
“That was incredible, to ride a colt for the team who they obviously value very highly, to get the trust in a lead-up race to the Golden Rose to get the job done, it’s a massive credit to the team and I’m very happy to get the job done.
“He came up underneath me really well at the 500 and I thought, we’re in business here.
“But I looked up and Storm Boy had about five lengths on me and I thought, this is tough. But the horse got there quick and I must say, the last 100-metres he was feeling the pinch so there is a lot of improvement still in the horse and I’m very excited for in two weeks.”

Tim Clark (Anode): “He nearly had bragging rights there at Tulloch Lodge. Excellent first up performance. Obviously in for a good prep.”
Adam Hyeronimus (Storm Boy): “Huge run. We got smashed out of the gates. Half a length slow and other runners got him. He got running for 100m which I thought we’d still get a spot behind the leaders without doing a power of work then we were four deep. I had to let him roll forward. He’s done a courageous job to run as well as he has to do that work. It’s hard for any horse.”
Jason Collett (Switzerland): “He jumped well. Had to do a wee bit of work to get across the inside runners which I think told late.”
Chad Schofield (Bustling): “Jumped nicely. Got into a good position. Obviously the two horses in front of me had to work a fair bit. We travelled well but when we came off the bridle, he did a bit wrong. He got a bit unbalanced.’
Kerrin McEvoy (Linebacker): “That was a great run. Really good. Just a shame we drew the outside. Had to ride him quiet. But he finished off really well. So up to 1400m next time he will improve again.”
Tommy Berry (Fearless): “I was happy with him. He ran into it like he was going to be with the placegetters but he had just one trial. His fitness told late.”
Regan Bayliss (Tropicus): “He is a serious colt. Just needs to do a few more things right. If he learns how to go straight, he is up there with the best of them.”
Tyler Schiller (Emirate): “Great run. I thought he was very impressive. He’s first up, I think he is going to be better suited up to the 1400m. Especially with the run under his belt. He wasn’t peaking late. He was still getting through his gears. I think he will be better at 14[00].
