Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the $140,000 Listed Fujitsu General Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m) at Randwick.
Glyn Schofield (Special Reward): “You look back on this horse's form and when he wants to run he can perform. He was in that frame of mind today and I could actually feel that on the way down to the barriers as opposed to the last time at Newcastle."
He was really reluctant to go to the start with me (at Newcastle), but today he really wanted to get there and I thought to myself ‘he’s in the right frame of mind today’, and he proved it on the track as well.
“I had a lovely run I must say, I just sort of coaxed him and I didn’t want to produce him too early, because I didn’t want him to think too much. Kris and I had a chat before the race and it just worked out according to plan.”
Special Reward causing an upset result
Keagan Latham (Eleven Eleven): “A little bit of a disheartening run. He travelled well throughout but they went pretty slow early on. It favoured the horses that were on speed.”
Hugh Bowman (Southern Lad): “A good honest run. Think he is better ridden a bit quieter."
Tim Clark (Dawn Passage): “He over travelled and didn’t finish.”
Jason Collett (Edison): “Long way off them. Still think he needed the run.”
Jay Ford (Vulpine): “She was plain today. She travelled well, had control in front but she didn’t give a kick like she did the other day.”
Tom Sherry (Dream Circle): “It was a good run. Probably just needs 1400m now. The track drying was against him today.”
Tommy Berry (Surreal Step): “Travelled up like the winner but was disappointing late.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Snapdancer): “She went well. She will improve with the run.”
Alysha Collett (Just Field): “Tried hard.”
