It was another dominant performance in the wet from Gailo Chop at 2000m. Find out what the jockeys made of their runs in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill Gardens.
Mark Zahra (Gailo Chop): “He deserved it after last start, he’s been a great horse to me and he thoroughly deserved that win.
“I was happy for him to have a bunny today, it just gave him something to follow and got him off the rail a little bit.
“(Owner) Terry Henderson has been crowing all week about the wet-track and he was spot on.
“She [Single Gaze] came to me early, but he can sustain a bit of a run this bloke and when I gave him one around the tail he really extended, I knew then he was going to be very hard to beat.”
Gailo Chop is too classy in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes at Rosehill Gardens
Kathy O'Hara (Single Gaze): “She was as gallant as ever. She is probably not 100% at home on that going. She still tried her hardest and the better horse won on the day so full credit to Gailo Chop.”
Hugh Bowman (Prized Icon): “He’d be more comfortable on top of the ground. The winner was too good so all credit to him.”
Jason Collett (Consensus): “It was a game effort. Once I went to let her go though she struggled in the ground.”
Tim Clark (Classic Uniform): “That was very unlike him. He gave it in pretty quickly.”
Michael Walker (Harlem): “He never went a yard on the track.”
Damien Oliver (Ventura Storm): “He raced a bit fresh. He’ll be better with the run under his belt. It’s probably not the exact sort of ground he wants either. He probably wants a bit firmer.”
Zac Purton (Sarrasin): “It was a nice effort. They went slow but he finished it off well the last 75m.”
Tancred Stakes next stop for Gailo Chop!
