Jockey Quotes - Pago Pago Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 3 $250,000 TAB Pago Pago Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Kerrin McEvoy (Skyhook): “I wish I did that last start. He’s a nice colt moving forward and he was athletic out of the gate, so I just thought, right, if nothing's quicker than me, I'm just going to let him get into a comfortable stride, which is what he did.

“He pricked his ears and I actually asked Jason behind the gates, because he works with Gerald (Ryan) and he said he's been leading in his work. So I thought, right, if he ends up in front, he's going to be used to that scenario.

“He’s got to come in a week's time again but fingers crossed he can pull up well.

“He did get quite warm and obviously two-year-olds week to week is a long time. Gerald and Sterling know if he can come again. He's on the improve for sure.”

Josh Parr (Good Hotspur): “A really nice effort. Unfortunately we raced without cover. He was gallant late.”

Jason Collett (State Visit): “Great run. A long way back from that barrier but his turn of foot was electric.”

Chad Schofield (Comedy): “He ran well. He was strong late so he might be looking for a bit further.”

Regan Bayliss (Extractor): “A little bit disappointing.”

James McDonald (United States): “Good run. He relaxed well.”

Blake Shinn (Kilman): “They were a bit sharp for him today. Look out for him in 6/12 months time.”

Tim Clark (Fermoy): “He landed in a lovely spot. Just lacks a bit of maturity at the moment. Will be better next preparation.”

Tommy Berry (Valedictorian): “Disappointing today.”

Jay Ford (Dusty Bay): “Lovely horse. Just inexperienced at this level left him found wanting.”

Zac Lloyd (Barbarossa): “Unlucky once again. He is improving. He’s a very nice colt. Just no luck today.”
