Jockey Quotes - Inglis Sires'

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 1 $1,000,000 Inglis Sires’ at Royal Randwick.

Joao Moreira (Militarize): “His last run (in the Golden Slipper), you could forget about that run because he got involved in an incident throughout the race. Now today he showed his quality. Early in the day I mentioned that some horses were going to struggle in the surface, but he just floated on top of it.

“Another Group 1 win in Australia is so special and once again I wouldn’t have done it without the support of all connections.”

“This is the kind of thing that makes us (have) no regret coming over here. It’s quite far away from home but when you get on top of a nice horse like this one, I just couldn’t be any happier.”

“He’s such a nice horse. He kind of floated on the surface which not many horses would be able to considering the track is quite heavy today. Getting a good gate, putting himself in the right spot, he was the winner a long way from home.

Hugh Bowman (Don Corleone): “He was fantastic today. Travelled well and let down well. No match for the winner.”

James McDonald (Cylinder): “It just never worked out. He never travelled at all or feel comfortable in the ground. Hard to get a line on him.”

Dylan Gibbons (Pier Pressure): “I’m just excited for the owners. First one they bred and they feel like they’ve won. She has gone terrific.”

Zac Purton (Empire Of Japan): “He didn’t run it out on the testing ground.”

Damian Lane (Veight): “He ran great very honest. Had to do a bit of work early. Definitely not suited to the conditions.”

Michael Dee (Maharba): “Ran well. We ended up in a tricky spot. Hard to show the turn of foot where we ended up. He’s run a nice race.”

John Allen (Brave Mead): “Travelled into it well just didn’t let down in the conditions.”

Tom Marquand (Cafe Millenium): “The future for him was always going to be once he gets up in ground but the ground was too soft for him.”

Tim Clark (Bases Loaded): “Another super honest performance. I thought he battled away really well.”

Brett Prebble (Butch Cassidy): “Just battled in the ground.”

Reece Jones (Bold And Blazen): “Outclassed and struggled on the heavy track.”
