Jockey Quotes - Inglis Sires'

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 1 $1,000,000 Inglis Sires’ (1400m) at Royal Randwick.

Brenton Advulla (Fireburn): “I said to my manager this morning I haven’t had so much confidence going into a Group 1 race, the last time I was that confident was probably Ilovethiscity into the Randwick Guineas and I probably pressed the trigger about a furlong too early and still won.”

“I didn’t think they could beat her and when Anthony (Cummings - trainer of the second horse She’s Extreme) came out and said he reckons they would’ve won the Slipper the other day with her that’s why I gave a bit of cheek at the 50m ‘C’mon, come with me’. She’s a superstar.”

“Probably about the 600m. She doesn’t give you a good feel early, you’ve just got to let her be. She jumped well but she just loses contact with them and switches right off. But once you give her a bit of a boot in the guts you can just feel her lift under you.”

“On the corner Tommy (Berry - jockey of the second horse She’s Extreme) was about six clear of me and I just knew it wasn’t far enough. She probably was in the worst part of the track and it was race over at the furlong again. This is what it’s about.”

“She deserves to be champion two-year-old. A bit of history I don’t think any filly has done it for a long time and there’s no reason why she can’t do the triple crown. If she does that she’s one of the greatest of all time.”

“She was probably in the worst part of the track and once I set her alight she was off and she was quite soft again so it will take a good one to beat her in two weeks.”

Fireburn wins the Inglis Sires’ at Royal Randwick

Tommy Berry (She's Extreme): “It was heart-breaking there. Thought we were home for a bit there but she went well. I was just beaten by a better filly on the day.”

Damian Lane (Let'srollthedice): “He was super. Keeps getting better with every run and if he pulls up well, looking forward to the Champagne.”

Mark Zahra (Daumier): “Tried hard. Ran very well.”

Nash Rawiller (Shalatin): “I love the horse. Wrong time ,wrong place on the wet tracks.”

Jamie Kah (Counttheheadlights): “He was good. Just wants further to and to be ridden that bit closer.”

Hugh Bowman (Man In The Mirror): “Not in that heavy ground.”

William Pike (Magic): “He began too well and didn’t settle as well as he could.”

John Allen (Warby): “Just trouble getting through that ground and a bit new too.”

Josh Parr (Wealthy Investor): “A little bit outclassed there today. He’s a nice horse with a bright future.”

James McDonald (Showcourt): “Come to the end of his preparation.”

Tim Clark (Brosnan): “He did want to over-race a little bit with the blinkers. Took the sting out of him.”
