Jockey Quotes - Hot Danish Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $500,000 Precise Air Hot Danish Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens.

William Pike (Sheeza Belter): “I think it feels like you always want to be closer but she liked to be curled up and she travelled into the race like the winner. Obviously she let down and in the end she was loafing around. She did it well.

“I suppose it wasn’t a traditional second up, she’d been in work a long time. The stable have done a fantastic job. I don’t even want to know the issues they had. Then we pulled a shoe walking out. I thought here we go. She was the perfect patient. It might make her come on as a racehorse. Like being held back while she is full of beans and having to learn to ply herself. Her manners have come on so much in the short time I’ve been here.”

Sam Clipperton (Lavish Girl): “She was terrific. She has run a great race today. Been beaten by a G1 winner. So she is in very good form.”

Jay Ford (More Secrets): “Up in grade. Ran a terrific race.”

Hugh Bowman (Electric Girl): “I thought her turn of foot was her asset. But she just couldn’t quicken with them. She was inconvenienced a bit late but was beaten on her merits.”

Brock Ryan (Jamaea): “Even though she has finished at the tail end, I thought she went outstanding in just a sit and sprint race. It was hard to catch them.”

Dylan Gibbons (Night Of Romance): “Travelled well. Probably just travelled too well and that told late.”

Tommy Berry (Charleise): “Enormous run. Good to see her back on a dry track. They just went too slow for her in the middle stages.”

Regan Bayliss (Cliff's Art): “Just a lack of tempo. It was a sit and sprint which made it hard for the backmarkers to get into it.”

Kathy O'Hara (She's The Gift): “She ran well. Probably a horse better suited if she can dictate a bit more. A little bit hesitant behind runners.”

Rachel King (Divine Magic): “Very encouraging Australian debut and I think she is going to be a lot of fun over a mile.”

Jason Collett (Samoot): “She jumped well from a wider gate. The race probably didn’t go quick enough for it to unfold and for me to get into a spot. Stuck on well considering.”
