Jockey Quotes - Coolmore Classic

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 1 $600,000 Coolmore Classic (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Michael Dee (Espiona): “I knew I was coming up here to ride three weeks or so ago and it was a matter of chasing the right ride. When she won so well in Melbourne I was certainly very happy to be on her today, especially at this light weight. A credit to Chris Waller and his team and to herself.

“I did have instructions to try and stay off (the rail) and come down the outside, but as soon as the gates opened I did go to the fence. The tempo was on and she seemed happy and relaxed in the run and we had a lot of room there in front of horses. Then coming into the straight she absolutely grabbed the bridle and was very strong up in behind them. It was just a matter of switching to the inside and she exploded.”

Robbie Dolan (Pride Of Jenni): “Brave in defeat. Had to do the donkey work in front. Felt like she was getting tired in the straight but when they came at her, she really stuck her head down and fought right to the line. Really good run.”

William Pike (Sheeza Belter): “She ran fantastic. Unfortunately we weren’t beaten very far. She went great.”

James McDonald (Hinged): “Just no hope from back in the race.”

Nash Rawiller (Annavisto): “She showed a sign that something was worrying her. We pulled her out of the race and looked after her.”

Tim Clark (Hope In Your Heart): “Pretty gallant run. Never travelled and still finished the race off. Ideally she would have loved some cut in the track.”

Chad Schofield (Mustang Valley): “I thought she got to the line nicely. Will definitely improve when the tracks get a bit softer.”

Tom Sherry (Mirra Vision): “Good run. Got a bit crowded at the top of the straight. Picked herself up well.”

Regan Bayliss (Purplepay): “She is wanting soft ground so should be able to get that in the Queen Of The Turf.”

Tyler Schiller (Expat): “Bombed the start. She did a very good job to pick herself up again. She still wasn’t very comfortable. Did a top job to find a bit late.”

Dylan Gibbons (Ruthless Dame): “Probably went a bit too quick for her. Was never really comfortable on that track.”

Zac Lloyd (Yearning): “Very nice. Hopefully I can stick with her because I think she is going well.”

Brock Ryan (More Prophets): “She is flying. Was a long way off them and rattled some quick sectionals late.”

Dean Yendall (Toregene): “There is merit there. Just needs a bit of sting out of the track. She travelled good throughout but when push came to shove, she didn’t give much. I’m putting it down to the track.”
