It was the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained mare Con Te Partiro that relished the wet conditions to win the $600,000 G1 Coolmore Classic (1500m), beating Miss Fabulass and Noire.
Tim Clark (Con Te Partiro): "It worked out perfectly, the other day I probably made a mistake, just rode her a bit too aggressively and too close to a hot speed."
“It didn’t look to be much speed today after Sweet Deal got scratched, we just wanted to bang her out and get her comfortable. Just have her where she was happy.”

Rachel King (Invincible Gem): “Travelled up super but on the turn that was it.”
Brenton Avdulla (Dawn Dawn): “I thought she ran a credible race but didn’t get through the conditions at all.”
Jason Collett (El Dorado Dreaming): “Tracked into it like the winner.”
James McDonald (Pohutukawa): “Just didn’t have a horse to travel through that ground. She didn’t handle that today. The track is bottomless.”
Tommy Berry (Sylvia's Mother): “Obviously didn’t handle the track.”
Andrew Mallyon (Delectation Girl): “I felt with no tempo she over travelled a bit. Think she is better ridden a little further back with more tempo.”
Kathy O'Hara (Noire): “Terrific effort from her. From the barrier she was wide from there. She ran right up to her best.”
Michael Walker (Oceanex): “Just didn’t handle it. She hung in the whole way.”
Tom Marquand (Spanish Whisper): “Found it really hard once I took her off the bridle.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Miss Fabulass): “Great run. We got back and travelled really well through the ground. Tempo didn’t help but she picked up well to run second.”
Jye McNeil (Fiesta): “Had a nice tractable run throughout the race but didn’t like the conditions.”
Robbie Dolan (Sweet Scandal): “She’s run really well. If she draws a gate would be good to see what happened. Ran really well and hit the line well.”
Andrew Adkins (Benitoite): “Top run and snuck up the inside. She might appreciate 1700m.”
Jay Ford (Acting): “She struggled in the conditions.”
