Never count out Redzel. The sprinter maintained his affinity with the Randwick 1000m by taking out the G3 Forum Concorde Stakes (1000m).
Kerrin McEvoy (Redzel): "It’s great to see him back. He had his doubters after last prep but it is great to see him come back and do it first up. He’s making that little race his own, that’s his third one, it was a pleasing effort there today."
"There’s every chance that he is going to be a force to be reckoned with through this preparation."
Redzel winning the Concorde Stakes
Tommy Berry (Pierata): “You’ve just got to watch the race to see how well he went. He’s come back in much better order this preparation, we’ve been saying he’s bigger, he’s stronger, he’s better. I think that showed it today. He’s on the right track and very excited about the rest of his spring.”
James McDonald (Nature Strip): “Even though there was a lot of pace on paper it didn’t work out like that. He fired up for about a furlong in the middle and finished accordingly.”
Luke Currie (Sunlight): “She was okay. She was going to be wide so I came back and they quickened so well they had her chasing around the corner. She’d had enough late but we knew she would fitness wise.”
Brenton Avdulla (Graff): “He ran terrific. He’s playing with the big boys now and his run was full of merit.”
Brad Stewart (Zoustyle): “Sat outside Redzel, went maybe a touch keen for a short period of the race but after that he settled alright. Maybe that’s not his go sitting up there, I couldn’t tell you.”
