Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $250,000 Daily Press Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Royal Randwick.
Tim Clark (Knights Order): “He performed really well first up last prep at ten furlongs. Obviously the track conditions, getting worse as the day went on, played in his favour. He loves those conditions.
“He didn’t have a taxing campaign last prep, just the four runs and he went out on a high, and he has returned in really good order.
“There was a lot of other stayers resuming or very early in their preps and it looked a race where he could work forward from that draw and take it up. That has been advantageous through the day and he did the rest. He gets himself very fit. He was forward coming into today. He has some lofty goals later on in his campaign and that is a good start to his prep.”

Tommy Berry (Numerian): “Really happy with his efforts today. He’s come back a better horse than he was last prep and he’s in for a very big Spring.”
Jay Ford (No Compromise): “Really good. Obviously at WFA he stuck to his guns really bravely.”
Sam Clipperton (Stockman): “Terrific run going forward. He’s right on track.”
Regan Bayliss (Kukeracha): “He’s come back in good order. He lacked a turn of foot at the top of the straight but happy with the way he’s gone through the line.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Crystal Pegasus): “He’s started back well there. Just wasn’t able to quicken in that really heavy ground. A good starting point for him, he’ll go out further in trip and be competitive.”
William Pike (Benaud): “He ran really well.”
Josh Parr (Entente): “He struggled in the conditions as his form suggests he would have.”
James McDonald (Surefire): “Good run. Didn’t handle the conditions at all.”
Hugh Bowman (Alegron): “Raced well today on a very testing surface. First up a mile - I couldn’t be happier.”
