Jockey Quotes - Challenge Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $500,000 Hyland Race Colours Challenge Stakes (1000m) at Royal Randwick.

Jordan Childs (Passive Aggressive): “About the 100m I was a bit confident and then Eduardo ended up coming back, I’m just glad we held on. She’s a really nice horse in the making and she had to take a big step up in class today. It was good to see her get the result.

“About half way down when I was still traveling I knew what kind of kick she has and she was able to show that. But Eduardo was very tough, he definitely made us work for it.

“She’s a nice horse that does everything right, gets herself in a nice rhythm. She’s got a very high cruising speed and she can also find off that.”

Nash Rawiller (Eduardo): “I thought he was brilliant in defeat really. Deserved to win.”

Craig Williams (Giga Kick): “It was disappointing but his performance was phenomenal even though we ran third. Credit to first and second home. They are good horses, fast. But my chances were dashed what happened at the start. I thought in the circumstances he showed the calibre of horse that he is and is going to be.”

James McDonald (Paulele): “He went OK. He’s just not a 1000m horse. Up to six he will be better.”

Brenton Avdulla (Remarque): “He ran really good. If anything just maybe found the 1000m a fraction short at this level. Some good horses beat him.”

Robbie Dolan (Shelby Sixtysix): “He has actually come back in really good order. Actually run well today. Needs a biblical flood to run as best as he can.”

Zac Purton (The Bopper): “I thought it was a good run. Against those horses did a good job.”

Tyler Schiller (Key Largo): “Terrific run. Just needed a bum to follow on the fence. He was good through the line. Just might need a little further as well.”

Chad Schofield (Sacred Satono): “He gave me a really nice feel. He is only three running against some of the best sprinters in the country and I thought he ran really well. Look out for when he gets to 1200 or even 1400m.”
