Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 3 $200,000 Bill Ritchie Handicap (1600m) at Royal Randwick.
Hugh Bowman (Top Ranked): “The pace was too good for him. He was first-up for a long time and he’s only had one run in 12 months or more.
“He’s a horse with excellent European form and he came here with a big boom on him and a lot of confidence behind him and he’s yet to disappoint. He sort of went amiss when he ran first-up last preparation but Annabel has been very wise, taken her time with him and let him tell her when he’s ready and it was a lovely starting point for him. Class takes him a long way and I think he’s got a lot of improvement to come.
“It was a real test of a race. The jets were on from a long way out and I just rode him to really hit the line and he just started to bring himself into the race from the 600 (metre mark). I was starting to feel pretty confident then.
“I think Annabel can aim really high with this horse and he won’t let anyone down.”

James McDonald (Purple Sector): “Good run. He boxed on well.”
Tim Clark (Cross Talk): “I thought he ran well. He tracked the leader. He’s come a long way this preparation. He’s done a good job.”
Rachel King (O'President): “A bit disappointing today.”
William Pike (Ranch Hand): “I thought he was OK. The speed was on and it had us off the bridle for a long time. In a race where we can travel a bit more he’ll be ok.”
Jason Collett (Paternal): “Disappointing.”
Tommy Berry (Lackeen): “He ran really well. Just that farcical tempo and he brought the field up to them. It took his turn of foot away late.”
