Jockey Quotes - Big Dance Wild Card

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the $160,000 Big Dance Wild Card (1600m) at Royal Randwick.

Reece Jones (King Of The Castle): “He came out on his nose. I thought we were in a bit of trouble. But barriers win races and we were able to sneak up doing no work at all. Got into a lovely spot and built into a lovely rhythm.

“I’ve noticed a couple of times he gets there and tries to idle. The way the race panned out I was wanting to be a little bit patient on him. Made sure I got there late. I think he is going really well.

“I don’t know if I was confident in the run but I knew I could run a good race. Joe does a really good job with his horses and I knew he’d come here in nice form. Happy to get another winner for him today.”

Rachel King (Highlights): “Massive run. Unlucky to get run down.”

Dylan Gibbons (Loch Eagle): “Got a bit of luck from the sticky draw. Tried his heart out the whole way.”

Zac Lloyd (Flying Crazy): “Didn’t really have the turn of foot he had last start. Just whacked away up the straight.”

Jason Collett (Lion's Roar): “He has hit the line well. Difficult from the gate.”

Aaron Bullock (Baby Rider): “On paper not an ideal run but he went a lot better than it reads. Race was tempo related and it was hard to make ground. Acquitted himself well not run to suit.”

Josh Parr (Steely): “Very poor effort. I have no explanation as to why.”

Jett Stanley (Hail Manhattan): “Everything went his way. Got into a beautiful position. Don’t think the track was too nice to him today.”

Brett Prebble (Cisco Bay): “Awkward gate and he just didn’t get cover straight away so he was trapped for a bit too long.”

Tommy Berry (Spangler): “He has run great. We took out medicine from the gate, going back to the inside. They pulled up to a steady tempo mid-race and it was a sprint home. Watch him late he was strong to the line.”

Chad Schofield (Aramayo): “No luck from the wide draw.”

Regan Bayliss (For Valour): “Raced a bit flat today.”

Jean Van Overmeire (Journalism): “Played up in the gates causing him to be sluggish out of the gates.”

Tyler Schiller (Special Swey): “Relaxed like he was ready for the 2000m again. Really good run.”

Brock Ryan (Rogue Bear): “Pretty wide in the run. Attacked the line nicely.”

Jay Ford (Baltic Coast): “Travelled really well but only ran one-paced to the line.”

Kathy O'Hara (Pandano): “Really good run. He was a long shot there but he enjoyed the going there bowling along in front.”
