Jockey Quotes - All Aged Stakes

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 1 $1.5 million Schweppes All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick.

Craig Williams (Giga Kick): “He’s only a three-year-old having his ninth start so it’s really exciting.

“It just shows you, you’ve got big races in Sydney you’ve got people here from Melbourne supporting. It’s OK for me, I’m lucky enough to ride him but he does all the running, Clayton prepares him and I’m lucky to be a part of his journey.

“Full credit has got to go to Clayton Douglas as trainer. I’m lucky enough to get on him race day. I haven’t been on his back, I’ve seen him on TV, until today. He’s got a great hand on where he’s at and developing this horse. He’s a three-year-old having his ninth start and he’s just so exciting. I couldn’t be feeling so blessed to be a part of his team.

“He paraded better today than he did first-up this preparation. The exciting part about it is that he’s got so much more to come. We see horses that get developed really well, perfect example two weeks ago Mr Brightside. This horse is a three-year-old having nine starts, already won a Group One.”

“James McDonald (rider of 2nd horse Zaaki) said to me ‘too good’ when I went past him and he just did it so easy on a day like today, first run at 1400m. Third-up, he’s a serious horse.”

James McDonald (Zaaki): “So brave in defeat. He is an old marvel with so much upside. He keeps turning up.”

Nash Rawiller (Cascadian): “He was outstanding. Just missed the bob for second but was working home better than any horse. He went enormous.”

Tom Marquand (Lost And Running): “Plan was always to be a bit further forward than what he normally does but as soon as he didn’t find the back of one for cover, he was gassed out. He was sprinting and we were going 1400m so it wasn’t going to work.”

Sam Clipperton (Mazu): “Not sure what to make of that. He was disappointing.”

Jason Collett (Bandersnatch): “Honest effort in that grade.”

Ryusei Sakai (Ho O Amazon): “He tried very hard but he doesn’t like this ground. Very hard for him.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Kolding): “He will benefit from the run first up at that level. He could go to Brisbane and feature in some races up there.”

Tim Clark (Roch 'N' Horse): “She travelled well but didn’t enjoy that ground when I let her off the bridle.”

Zac Lloyd (Electric Girl): “Unfortunately we got the rain and she doesn't go a yard in the wet. I really like her. She is so honest.”

Chad Schofield (Jacquinot): “He really disliked the track but stuck on gamely.”
