ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST BET: Race 9 # 3 – CONTEMPORARY
Like him, and he profiles well for this event. The Godolphin galloper had multiple excuses last start after having the pace against and had to make his run through the inferior ground. Further, he clocked the meeting's second-fastest final 200m split and all key indicators suggest he's ready to peak third-up. The five-year-old will relish the anticipated high-pressure race shape, and he has the closing speed to run over the top of his rivals.
ROSEHILL GARDENS – NEXT BEST: Race 2 # 8 – THE EXTREME CAT
He went to a new level when winning at Hawkesbury last start, and although having every chance, he did it with style. The gelding ran fast overall time relative to the day, and he held his action well to/through the line. He sets up well from barrier one with James McDonald riding and can step off his last start figure.
ROSEHILL GARDENS – SECTIONAL STAR: Race 8 # 8 – MORE SECRETS
She was run to suit last start, but the clock backed up her late visual strength. The mare blended into the race well at the top of the straight, and Punter's Intelligence recorded her running one of the meeting's fastest final 600m in 34.20. Her previous race pattern is to peak third-up, and her sectional profile suggests she can reach that level/figure, which will put her in the finish.
NEWCASTLE – PROVINCIAL PICK: Race 1 # 3 – FIOPROSPERO
He's been well-found in early markets but is well-placed under the set-weight conditions. The four-year-old had too much to do last start at this track, with bias against, but he ran well into third. He has a strong platform, and the step to 1895m fourth-up is ideal. In addition, he can settle closer with a significant barrier change.
