ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST BET: Race 2 # 14 – GLENBOWER

Keen on the lightly raced galloper after his impressive first-up win at Newcastle 37 days ago. The colt chased a fast tempo, accelerated, went through the line full of energy and pricked his ears on the line. Further, he smashed the clock and recorded some of the meeting's fastest closing splits. He has style, brings the best last-start figure, and all key indicators suggest he can only step off that effort. In addition, he maps to have all favours and, with even luck, expect him to be in the finish.

ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST BET: Race 9 # 6 – FRANZ JOSEF

Like him, and he is on an upwards ratings spiral. He profiles well for this event and produced a career peak figure when winning at this track/distance last start a fortnight ago on rain-affected going. He was suited leading at a slow pace, but his sectional breakdown was full of merit, and he did it easily on the line. The gelding can only improve third-up, and the key booking of Kerrin McEvoy is ideal, with the gelding being undefeated when leading.

ROSEHILL GARDENS – SECTIONAL STAR: Race 3 # 11 – INVASIVE DREAMS

She represents value and nothing has gone right for her this preparation. The filly had no luck first-up in the Listed Denise's Joy Stakes (1100m), and then her effort had hidden merit last start at Warwick Farm in a stronger grade. She was heavily checked/blocked at the start, making her settle at the rear and couldn't build momentum in the straight. However, once clear, she hit the line hard and was never fully exerted with Punter's Intelligence recording her late splits. She clocked the fourth fastest final 200m of the meeting in 11.86. She can settle much closer from the soft gate and a rise in trip suits. Each-way.

NEWCASTLE – PROVINCIAL PICK: Race 5 # 7 – MERCHANT LADY

Always had time for her after her stylish debut win at Gosford, and she came in on a strong base figure. Happy to forgive her run prior to spelling, where she had multiple excuses. She is still learning, but she has trialled well, going to the line not extended, and looks ready to sprint fresh. She always indicated she would return improved with maturity, and the bigger track is a plus.
