ROYAL RANDWICK – BEST BET: Race 5 # 7 – GENTLY ROLLED
The mare went to a new level first-up at Rosehill 21 days ago, producing a career peak figure, and she profiles well for this event. Further, she was run to suit but showed acceleration/closing speed and her visual late strength was backed up by the clock, with the four-year-old clocking one of the meeting's fastest final 600m splits. All key indicators suggest she will step off that performance, and she has a positive race setup. Hard to beat with even luck.
ROYAL RANDWICK – BEST VALUE: Race 1 # 5 – INVINCIBLE LEGEND
The gelding has taken a few runs to get fit this prep and has been racing in stronger grade. Further, he hasn't been suited to the race shape in both runs, but his sectional/ratings profile suggests he's ready to peak third-up. Expect him to settle closer from the kind draw, and he is well suited at the weights with the claim. Good each-way.
ROYAL RANDWICK – SECTIONAL STAR: Race 9 # 8 – AMOR VICTORIOUS
The Bjorn Baker galloper has returned improved this prep, and he was dominant, winning first-up at this track. He controlled the speed but showed a sharp turn of foot between the 400m-200m and kicked clear of his rivals, leaving them with too much to do. Punter's Intelligence recorded that he ran 11.36 for that section. The gelding can make it back-to-back wins with a favourable map, and he gets in with no weight. Will take some catching.
NEWCASTLE – PROVINCIAL PICK: Race 6 # 8 – KERVETTE
The lightly raced galloper resumed off 354 days at Wyong a fortnight ago and was extremely brave in defeat in a high-rating race. She sat outside the leader, always facing the breeze in a fast tempo and was in a duel the entire straight. Further, she just missed in a tight finish but beat the rest easily, confirming the quality of the race. Some query second-up off a long break, but she receives a significant barrier change, allowing her an economical run, and she brings the best last start figure.
