Friday Focus - A Snapshot Of Saturday Racing

ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST BET: Race 6 # 8 – HI DUBAI

Has a strong Rosehill 1100m profile, and her first-up run at Kensington was full of merit. The lightly raced galloper had her chance, but she kept building to the line and ran the fastest final 200m split of the meeting. Further, that race rated highly relative to the day; the late market trade suggested she would come on from the run, and all key indicators suggest she will improve off that effort. Expect an aggressive ride early with the intention to lead, and the filly drops 5.5kg in weight. In addition, she brings a strong SP profile where last prep, she started $4.50 in a Gosford Guineas (1200m).

ROSEHILL GARDENS – BEST BET: Race 8 # 5 – KIBOU

Started $2.40 first-up at Randwick a few weeks ago, and he was outstanding in defeat in a strong time race, and the margin to third confirmed the quality. The three-year-old led at a genuine tempo with 60.5kg, travelled in the inferior ground, sprinted hard and went down fighting. He is a Group 3 winner, has a dominant ratings profile relative to his rivals and has proven he can jump sharply in distance to win. Expect him to roll forward and be hard to catch.

ROSEHILL GARDENS – SECTIONAL STAR: Race 9 # 10 – TOURISTIC

Has a strong platform and is ready to peak fourth-up. The Snowden galloper wasn’t suited to the race shape last start and had to make his run through the inferior ground. Punter’s intelligence recorded he ran the fourth fastest final 200m split of the entire meeting in 11.20 and went through the line full of energy. He has improved in his second OZ prep and is ready to win.

KEMBLA GRANGE – PROVINCIAL PICK: Race 5 # 9 – AMBERINA

Wasn’t suited to the tight turning track last start at Wyong when a narrowly beaten favourite. Jockey Dylan Gibbons made an early move on the filly due to the slow pace, and she made a long-wide sustained run. Further, she got slightly lost and wanted to get on the wrong leg coming off the final turn, but to her credit, she closed off well. The Nathan Doyle galloper is now at optimal fitness, and the bigger track is ideal where she can build into a rhythm and show a sharp turn of foot.
