Everest Carnival Finale Sparkles With Diamonds & Gold At Rosehill

The final day of a record-breaking Sydney Everest Carnival features another innovative new race on the Australian calendar along with a crucial pathway race to the iconic Longines Golden Slipper at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

The inaugural running of the $2 million Five Diamonds – a set weights race for five-year-olds – and the $1m Golden Gift for two-year-olds are the centrepieces of a 10-race card to conclude the $66m Sydney Everest Carnival.

A capacity field has accepted for the $1m Golden Gift which will see the first two placegetters' prizemoney seal a spot in the Order Of Entry in the $5m Longines Golden Slipper in the autumn.

The $2m Five Diamonds has attracted a quality field including TAB Epsom dead-heat winner Ellsberg, last start Cox Plate runner Laws Of Indices, inaugural Big Dance champion Rustic Steel and two new overseas visitors to Sydney in Longvillers and New Mandate for champion Sydney trainer Chris Waller.

Saturday also sees the running of the Group 2 $500,000 Precise Air Hot Danish Stakes including another international visitor in Divine Magic for UK trainer Marco Botti.

Australian Turf Club Executive General Manager Racing and Wagering, James Ross said Saturday’s feature races and entries capped a highly successful carnival.

“The Golden Gift has attracted high quality and a capacity field as trainers begin their path to the world’s richest race for two-year-olds the $5 million Longines Golden Slipper," Mr Ross said.

“It’s pleasing to see such quality in the Five Diamonds in Ellsberg and Law Of Indices heading markets and one of the shipment of horses from Canterbury Park in Longvillers.

“The Precise Air Hot Danish sees further international interest in the Sydney spring with another runner from the renowned Marco Botti yard."

Fields for all 10 races at Rosehill Gardens are available here and full TAB markets for all races are here.

Ellsberg for Rosehill Gardens trainers Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou and jockey Tommy Berry is a dominant $2.90-$2.50 TAB favourite in the $2m Five Diamonds.

Laws Of Indices trained by Annabel Neasham and with Hugh Bowman aboard is a $4.60-$5 TAB second pick after being beaten less than three lengths in the Cox Plate.

Victorian visitors Ayrton (Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr/Sam Clipperton) $8 and Uncle Bryn (Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young/Rachel King) $8-$9.50 are next in betting.

Three horses are early equal favourites in the $1m Golden Gift – including last start Kirkham Plate winner Barber for James Cummings and Hugh Bowman and the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained and Tommy Berry mount Coincide are at $4.40.
