Australian Turf Club will host Group 1 racing on a 10-race card as well as provide punters with an AFL Grand Final live site live site overlooking the track for the Sydney Swans V Brisbane Lions decider.
A dedicated superscreen will televise the AFL Grand Final live to the backdrop of racing and a host of other entertainment options inside the southern end of the General Admission area of the JR Fleming Stand.
Eleven of the nation’s best three-year-old colts come together in a highly sought after stallion-making Group 1-James Squire Golden Rose which could also further shape the $20 million TAB Everest.
Two Godolphin colts trained by James Cummings head the TAB Fixed Odds market – Broadsiding for James McDonald ($3.30 on TAB) and Traffic Warden for Ben Melham ($3.80-$3.90).
Storm Boy trained by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott and ridden by Adam Hyeronimus is $4.60-$4.80) – one of three runners for the stable as it looks for a second win in the race.
Another high-class colt in Linebacker (John O’Shea and Tom Charlton) with Kerrin McEvoy to ride is $6.50-$6.
The first seven horses across the line in the Run To The Rose line up on Saturday, with that key pathway race providing 9 of the past 12 winners of the James Squire Golden Rose.
Saturday’s Golden Rose Day also features the $400,000 Group 2-Racing and Sports Golden Pendant, $300,000 Gr 2-Canadian Club Shannon Stakes, $250,000 Gr 3-Toyota Forklifts Colin Stephen Quality and $200,000 Listed-Petaluma Heritage Stakes.

Australian Turf Club Head of Racing and Wagering, Nevesh Ramdhani said customers and punters on Saturday can enjoy a full day of Group 1 racing and sporting entertainment.
“The James Squire Golden Rose continues to grow as one of the signature races on the Australian calendar and this year’s field is one of the best yet," Mr Ramdhani said.
“As a coveted Group 1 race it also leads to bigger races in the spring and in recent years has had a bearing on the TAB Everest."
Semana trained by Ciaron Maher with young gun Dylan Gibbons aboard has opened a well-backed $3.60-$2.60 TAB favourite in the $400,000 Gr 2-Racing and Sports Golden Pendant, ahead of Amelia’s Jewel ($2.80/$3/2.90) for Ananbel Neasham/Rob Archibald and jockey Tommy Berry.
The $300,000 Gr 2-Canadian Club Shannon Stakes features a wide-open betting race headed by Bases Loaded for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott and jockey Tim Clark at $4.80.
