Following Cellsabeel being found to be 2/5 lame in the off foreleg after competing in the Silver Slipper on 22 February 2020, Racing NSW Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr Toby Koenig, inspected the filly on Friday morning.
Dr Koenig has reported the filly had Bar Plates removed this morning and was fitted with Standard Race Plates in preparation for Saturday’s Reisling Stakes. He has advised that Cellsabeel was found to be exhibiting sensitivity in the off fore heel and in its current condition was not suitable to race.
After further discussions with co-trainer of Cellsabeel, Ciaron Maher, a decision has been made to scratch the filly from the Reisling Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday (7th March).
Mr Maher has been advised that if connections wish to contest the Black Opal Stakes on Sunday, a veterinary examination of Cellsabeel will be conducted by Racing NSW’s veterinary surgeons on Sunday morning.
