Canterbury Park Lights Up For Return Of Popular Kia Friday Night Racing

Sydney’s hugely popular Kia Friday Night Racing is back this Friday, featuring a suite of exciting racing and jockey series and a host of free family entertainment and hospitality experiences throughout summer

Entry is free for all racegoers who will enjoy an enticing variety of 20 food stalls presenting Sydney’s best street food across spacious trackside lawns, along with free children’s entertainment including pony rides and petting zoos, a silent disco, and live music entertainment throughout the night.

Kia Friday Night Racing Schweppes Opening Night this Friday 11 November is the first of ten meetings running across Summer and through to 24 February.

This is the fifth season Kia has partnered with the Australian Turf Club’s Friday Night Racing.

The eight-race cards include an $80,000 Evening Star feature each meeting, culminating in a series final in February. The series will include events for sprinters and stayers.

The Australian Turf Club and its ATC Foundation along with sponsor Quayclean will offer $20,000 in donations to a range of Sydney charities based on a special jockey series across the season.

Twelve of Sydney’s best jockeys will each be allocated a charity at a special draw on opening night and ride on a 3-2-1 points basis on every race across Kia Friday Night Racing.

Gates open this Friday at 5pm with race 1 starting at 6pm and the final race at 9.30pm.

Australian Turf Club Executive General Manager Commercial Melinda Madigan said Kia Friday Night Racing offered Sydneysiders an up-close experience to exciting racing action amid a vibrant atmosphere from early evening, through sunset and into the night.

“Canterbury Park is the perfect location for families, racing fans, entertainers and event seekers from the local community and all over Sydney to come together and enjoy a unique and immersive racing experience under Sydney’s balmy summer nights,’’ Ms Madigan said.

“What makes this event so special is the close proximity to the stars of the show, the much-loved thoroughbreds.

“Racegoers can meet and take a photo with jockeys and racehorses, and whilst enjoying all the trackside entertainment and famous food markets will be right next to the horses from the moment they leave the mounting yard to the exhilarating finish down the home straight in front of the cheering crowd.

“With free entry, an array of casual food and dining options and loads of free entertainment for the kids, Canterbury Park will light up this summer as Sydney gets out and celebrates this great time of year."

The Australian Turf Club also presents two and three-course dining hospitality packages in the Guineas Restaurant and open-air terraces starting from just $75pp.
