ATC Launches Search For 2019 The TAB Everest Runner

Australian Turf Club (ATC) has commenced a formal Expressions of Interest process for connections to partner with the Club’s slot for the third running of the world’s richest race on turf, the $14 million The TAB Everest at Royal Randwick.

ATC will again look to secure a runner from Australia or overseas to promote Sydney racing and the Club to new and existing local and worldwide audiences.

Criteria including but not limited to the following will be used in the search for a slot partner:
• Career record and international rating;
• Recent performance and profile;
• Performances at Group level in recognised thoroughbred racing countries;
• Extent of the commercial proposal put forward by owners or representatives.

Along with the EOI process, the ATC will consider other runners for selection as a potential The TAB Everest partner.

In 2017, ATC joined with Australian Bloodstock and its Japanese-bred runner Brave Smash ridden by UK-based Jamie Spencer, who ran third in the inaugural running of the TAB Everest.

Last year ATC partnered with Godolphin Australia and Osborne Bulls ridden by Tommy Berry who also finished third.

Australian Turf Club General Manager Racing, Wagering and International, James Ross, said the $14 million TAB Everest was again creating huge interest five months before the race at Royal Randwick on Saturday, 19 October 2019.

“The ATC remains diligent in its search for a suitable horse who will not only be highly competitive in this world-class race but also offer marketing and promotional opportunities to a broad audience,” Mr Ross said.

“Racing fans from around the world will be following the key pathway races that lead to selection and we look forward to working with interested parties.”

ATC is asking interested parties to lodge formal expressions by post, courier or email. Information or inquiries about the ATC’s Slot Expression of Interest form can be sent to jamesross@theATC.com.au
