General Admission Customers Back At Royal Randwick

General admission customers will be admitted in larger numbers at Royal Randwick this Saturday as the Australian Turf Club continues to welcome back crowds under the NSW Government’s latest Public Health Order.

Patrons must book tickets online at the TheRaces.com.au and register their details ahead of Saturday’s meeting at Royal Randwick.

Group bookings are permitted but all patrons will be required to follow social distancing protocols and will need to remain seated except when placing a bet or ordering food and beverage products on course, or when visiting bathrooms.

Public seating will be available within the Queen Elizabeth II Grandstand and in designated outdoor areas trackside during races.

Australian Turf Club Members and thoroughbred owners have been returning in increasing numbers over previous weeks and are able to book dining and hospitality packages to adhere to the NSW Government Public Health Order.

All patrons along with all racing participants will be temperature tested on arrival with the use of state-of-the-art thermal imaging cameras installed by the Australian Turf Club.

Executive General Manager Member & Customer Experience, Jane Coles, said Saturday was another important step in hosting crowds back on track.

“We are delighted to continue to provide more spaces for all of our customers to enjoy a day at the races whilst following the NSW Government Public Health Order,” Ms Coles said.

“The health and safety of everyone on course is our first priority and the Australian Turf Club has been undertaking extra health and monitoring precautions on racedays.

“We are particularly grateful to all of our customers and especially our Members who have been so supportive and patient over the past three months.”

NSW Racing Minister, Kevin Anderson, said the return of more spectators was great news for racing enthusiasts across the state.

“Racing has been the unsung hero of COVID-19 in NSW, supporting thousands of jobs during this difficult time,” Mr Anderson said. “It’s great that we’re now able to welcome spectators back to tracks, with sensible physical distancing in place.”

Royal Randwick features a nine-race card this Saturday with the first race due to start at 11.30am. Gates will open for Australian Turf Club Members and general admission customers at 10.30am.
