Saturday also sees the running of the Listed $160,000 ATC Foundation Winter Challenge – postponed from last weekend’s meeting – on a 10-race card which acknowledges owners, trainers, stable staff and two popular racing participants.

The $150,000 Bill Picken OAM Handicap saluting a long-time Sydney racing administrator and supporter and the $150,000 Special Achievement Shelby Sixtysix Handicap to acknowledge the remarkable rise of the Danny Williams trained horse over the past 12 months, are part of Saturday’s program.

Australian Turf Club has also recognised the industry in several other races with the NSWROA Trophy, ATC Thank You Owners Handicap, ATC Thank You Stable Staff Handicap and ATC Thank You Trainers Handicap across a meeting with a bumper 160 acceptors.

Australian Turf Club Executive General Manager Racing and Wagering, James Ross said Industry Recognition Day was an important part of the ATC calendar and a fitting end to the racing season.

“This raceday is an important way to celebrate the contribution of owners, trainers, jockeys, stable staff and horses at all Australian Turf Club tracks right throughout the year," Mr Ross said.

“The Australian Turf Club thanks the entire racing industry and is especially pleased to honour former STC Chairman Bill Picken for his long and significant contribution to racing and his recent recognition in the Queen’s Birthday Honours."

The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Cross Talk, for jockey Jean Van Overmeire, is the $3.70 TAB favourite in the ATC Foundation Winter Challenge, ahead of the highly consistent Jojo Was A Man for Royal Randwick trainer John Thompson and top apprentice Reece Jones at $3.80.

Next in TAB betting ($9) in the 13-horse field is well performed import Gold Trip for trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace. Full fields for Saturday’s Rosehill Gardens meeting can be found here and full TAB markets for all races here.
