Wyong Winners - Tips For Thursday 6th June

By Nick Berney

Tips and race by race preview by Nick Berney for Thursday's Wyong meeting. Selections based on a heavy track with rain forecast. Monitor for bias/pattern.

Race 1 - 12:10PM ANGKASA - SENTOSA PROVINCIAL MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

Leaning towards 2. Highland Eightgee at the odds, and he runs to a consistent figure that puts him in the finish in this event. The gelding is on the quick backup after leading last start at Moruya and battled on well to finish fourth. He is suited back to the tight-turning track; the anticipated race shape is ideal and expect him to give a sight. Each-way.

Dangers: 8. Tigon Princess brings a solid SP profile on the country circuit, and she was strong in defeat last start at Tamworth. Tim Clark rides for the first time, and she can rate to win. 1. Bertie is suited back to the rain-affected ground where he has produced his peak efforts and maps to have all favours. 3. Royalify is coming out of a fast time race and getting back out to 1600m suits.

How to play it: Highland Eightgee E/W ($10 TAB Fixed Odds).

Highland Eightgee last start at Moruya on May 26

Race 2 - 12:45PM HARVEY NORMAN COMMERCIAL - DIAGEO C1 HCP (1600 M)

1. Guzumped was solid first-up at Kembla Grange after being well-backed late in the trade and ran an honest third. The gelding had every chance but tried hard to the line in what was a high-rating race relative to the day. Further, he's come in on a strong base figure, and any improvement from that effort will make him hard for him to hold out. Additionally, he maps well, is proven on rain-affected ground, and the rise to 1600m is ideal.

Dangers: 4. Sweet Heaven is building towards a peak performance and gets out to a suitable trip third-up. Further, she has run hidden closing splits in both of her career starts and maps to have all favours from a kind draw with Jason Collett riding. 3. Bianco Nero is rock-hard fit and 6. Born Conqueror is proven on heavy ground.

How to play it: Guzumped WIN ($1.75 TAB Fixed Odds).

Guzumped runs third at Kembla Grange on May 18

Race 3 - 1:20PM AUBREY BROWN - AUSTBROKERS BM 64 HCP (2100 METRES)

Expecting sharp improvement from 2. Whetu, who is third-up and getting out to a more suitable trip is ideal. Further, his ratings/sectional profile suggests he is ready to step, and a senior rider in Jason Collett goes on. The six-year-old produced his career peak figure at this track/distance last prep when bolting in by over eight lengths. Each-way.

Dangers: 3. Majestic Style can bounce back with a more economical run, and her last start effort can be forgiven after being caught out on a limb throughout. Her prior start had merit, and she is proven on rain-affected going. Respecting 1. Gulf Of Tomini's SP profile for this grade and Tim Clark rides from the inside draw. 4. Vadamos Queen can give a sight and 1. Don Stefano is racing well.

How to play it: Whetu E/W ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Whetu last start at Gosford on May 26

Race 4 - 1:55PM ARCADE TRADER - BISHOP COLLINS MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

7. Lily Bobtail was an alarming drifter first-up at Gosford 21 days ago, but she was honest running third. The Godolphin galloper loomed to win, running one of the fastest 400m-200m splits of the meeting, but peaked on her run and battled on well. She will be fitter for that, can only step off that effort and maps to have all favours.

Dangers: 9. Du Cap comes through the same race as Lily Bobtail and started shorter in the market, albeit finishing fourth. She is rock-hard fit, and a senior rider goes back on. 3. Kwyjibo was ridden up to lead in a recent Rosehill trial and won easily on a heavy-rated surface. 1. Don't Tell Jack has had two trials giving him a solid fitness base to kick off his career.

How to play it: Lily Bobtail WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds).

Lily Bobtail runs third at Gosford on May 26

Race 5 - 2:35PM BENDIGO BANK - CENTRAL COAST FOOTBALL MAIDEN (1200 METRES)

Forgiving 1. Call Me Grouchy's last start where he had post-race issues, and he can bounce back here with a positive race setup. He is coming through two high-rating races, and his first-up effort was solid after chasing a fast tempo. Further, repeating that effort/figure can put him in the finish, and he maps to have all favours from an inside draw.

Dangers: Key market watch on 3. Euromaster, who resumes without an official public barrier trial, but he profiles well for this event. First-up last prep, his run was full of merit in a strong time race at this track, and he gets in well after the claim. 1. Sapphire Kiss is suited back to a rain-affected surface and 8. Elusive Mission is a knockout chance who will roll forward.

How to play it: Call Me Grouchy WIN ($3.40 TAB Fixed Odds).

Call Me Grouchy on debut at Gosford on April 25

R6 - 3:10PM BROWN FORMAN - CARLTON UNITED BREWERIES F&M BM 64 HCP (1200 M)

Keen on 5. Fuld's Doubt, whose effort last start in the Listed Denise's Joy Stakes (1100m), was much better than the form guide reads. The Rodney Northam-trained galloper wasn't suited to the race shape and lost her spot before the turn after being severely checked. However, she picked herself up to her credit, ran hidden closing splits, and was strong to the line. The filly is in career-best form, the rise to 1200m should pose no issue and expect her to be savaging the line with the track pattern to suit.

Dangers: 2.Rockin Millie was run to suit last start at Newcastle but found the line well to score after being well-backed. Further, she relished the step-in trip and staying at 1200m is ideal. Market watch on 3. Street Candi who resumes off a short spell and she can sprint fresh. 7 Little Bit Fresh is a knockout chance with a significant barrier change, and she can improve.

How to play it: Fuld's Doubt WIN ($3.30 TAB Fixed Odds).

Fuld's Doubt last start at Scone on May 19

Race 7 - 3:50PM WYONG ROOS FOUNDATION CG&E BM 64 HCP (1200 METRES)

8. Crop Duster is in career-best form, and his past two runs have had sectional merit on rain-affected ground. The four-year-old charged from the rear of the field to win last start at Newcastle, and he should've finished much closer the prior start at Newcastle after having too much to do. Jockey Andrew Gibbons, who has a strong affiliation with him, sticks and expect him to be hitting the line hard.

Dangers: 1. Amicus Curiae resumes and went to the line not extended in a recent heat at Tamworth. He has a strong first-up record and can sprint hard fresh. 11. Taking The Mikki is a last-start winner on a heavy surface and 5. De Forerunner is suited with the claim.

How to play it: Crop Duster WIN ($6.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Crop Duster winning at Newcastle on May 25

Race 8 - 4:25PM ACCOLADE WINES - REGNIS & SONS REFRIGERATION C1 HCP (1000 M)

Lightly raced filly 3. Winning Proposal ran time to win on debut at Newcastle and was honest before spelling last campaign in the Listed Inglis Millenium (1100m). She resumes off a 117-day break and won a recent trial with ease at Gosford. Although drawn wide, she may get the track pattern to suit, and all key indicators suggested she would come back improved in her second preparation.

Dangers: 7. Russian Snitzel was suited when breaking through for her maiden last start at Goulburn, but she was dominant. Her second-up run last campaign was full of merit in a high-rating race. 2. The Escape is suited back to 1000m and on rain-affected ground. 10 I'm Brazilian is a knockout chance and market watch on 6. Dize.

How to play it: Winning Proposal WIN ($2.50 TAB Fixed Odds).
