Wyong Winners - Tips For Sunday 4th August

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Sunday’s Wyong meeting. Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 - 12:00PM STONE REAL ESTATE WYONG MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

3. Elle Hudson looks nicely placed to break through at his fourth start as he steps off a handy third over the 1350m here just over a week ago. Should relish the mile journey and is the horse on the way up. Hard to beat.

Dangers: 1. Casterly Rock shapes as a big improver out to the mile and no surprise to see him put into the race. Always well back at Queanbeyan when resuming and was a drifter in betting. Worth keeping safe. 6. Elusive Mission is a 27 start maiden but she has recorded two placings from her past three starts including over this course last time out. One of the chances. 7. Graced has the blinkers on and draws to do no work from the inside so she’s another who can take a step forward now and improve after a disappointing effort at Newcastle.

How to play it: Elle Hudson WIN ($2.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 2 - 12:40PM LIMITLESS LODGE BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

1. Malabar did enough first-up at Newcastle to say he will lift nicely out to the 1600m. Attracted plenty of support when finishing midfield there and his second-up form is a bit better than his fresh form. Drawn perfectly and has the claim for a confident apprentice. Go well.

Dangers: 2. Dreamdeel probably didn’t run out the 2200m at Newcastle a few weeks ago and his form around this trip prior says he’s well worth another chance. Likes to roll forward and if left alone could take running down. 3. Doraskaya made a handy return at this track over 1350m so she’s come back in good order. Much better suited up to this trip and is generally a consistent horse. Must be respected. 5. Bangetta has been disappointing at her past couple but is down in class again and if she’s going to find her best she has the chance to here.

How to play it: Malabar WIN ($3.60 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 3 - 1:20PM ECONOMY WASTE GROUP 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES)

5. Yabby Pump has had a number of trials this year and steps out after his two best efforts in July, winning one then a close second in the other. Imagine he’s somewhat positive from the barrier and if he runs up to his trials he’s in a winnable race.

Dangers: 8. Cotswolds also makes her debut and she’s had several trials leading into this race as well. Latest on the synthetic so not getting too carried away there but she’s drawn well and will have every chance to perform. 10. November Air has some race experience from a debut fourth at Newcastle a few weeks ago. Raced handy there and battled on to just miss a placing. Has upside. 3. Forrest Gump hasn’t won a trial leading in which is unusual for the Waterhouse/Bott stable but he stays under notice here on debut.

How to play it: Yabby Pump WIN ($2.30 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 4 - 2:00PM AGRANA FRUIT AUSTRALIA PROV. MAIDEN HANDICAP (1350 METRES)

2. Kervette is well placed here second-up to finally crack it for a win. The 1200m was just a touch slick fresh but he ran into second and will be more effective with the step up in trip. Gets a nice run on paper and is the horse to beat.

Dangers: 6. Torie’s Rose is another that is close to a win and she left it a bit late when runner-up at Hawkesbury as favourite two weeks ago. Blinkers go on and she has her chance as well. 9. Noises was spelled after making her debut back in March where she didn’t fire after racing handy. Couple of trials leading into this have been handy enough and she could improve sharply. 10. Perri Lass was a drifter when resuming at Scone on a heavy track and ran an even race to run fourth. Back onto a firmer track is a plus and she’s one of the chances.

How to play it: Kervette WIN ($2.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 5 - 2:40PM MILANGALL PARK MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

5. Rip Off was around the mark without winning last time in and lands in a winnable race first-up. Trialled a couple of times recently including a second at Warwick Farm on the synthetic. Draws nicely and should be competitive.

Dangers: 8. Prince Of Sorts has a wide gate to contend with but has been nothing short of impressive winning his two trials by big spaces. Must be respected. 4. Éclair Vitality was a beaten favourite on debut but improved into a placing at Scone on a heavy track a few weeks back. Interesting to see how he fares on top of the ground. 3. Show County was unwanted in betting on debut but handled himself well when runner-up to a smart type at Wyong two weeks ago. Up 100m and is an each-way chance.

How to play it: Rip Off WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds).

Rip Off runs second in a Warwick Farm trial on July 15

Race 6 - 3:20PM SUBLIME ALUMINIUM & GLASS SOMERSBY BRACELET BM64 (1000M)

13. Sukida lacks experience but she couldn’t have been more impressive winning on debut at Newcastle over 900m. She wound up strongly from off the speed and won running away so the extra 100m will be a plus. If she gets around this track she’ll be hard to hold out.

Dangers: 1. Oceans One started equal favourite at Kensington in a Benchmark 72 last time but disappointed after racing handy. Previous form was solid and will be right on the speed from an inside gate. Logical danger. 8. Leave Me Some is racing consistently without winning at present in the country. Finds a dray track again and gets her chance from barrier one to be in the finish. 5. Northumbria does tend to run well fresh and scored a handy trial win a few weeks back. Probably rolls forward and could give cheek if he gets across.

How to play it: Sukida WIN ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 7 - 4:00PM DOMELAND KULNURA CUP COND. BM68 HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

12. Spicy Hotpot appears well placed to be in the finish again after a close third at Newcastle under the 60kg a couple of weeks ago. Draws okay and coming back 100m looks a plus, more than capable of winning if she gets the breaks at the right time.

Dangers: 2. Global Empire overcame a wide draw to score a tough win over 1200m here in a return to form after a couple of fair efforts. Similar set up so should roll forward and is a good chance. 5. Denman Star had his first run for the new stable at Newcastle and was quite impressive getting away from them late. Could go on with it now. 4. Side Show needs a bit of luck from the barrier but hasn’t done a lot wrong in his nine starts. Fitter for a recent trial and is capable of being in the finish.

How to play it: Spicy Hotpot WIN ($4.80 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 8 - 4:40PM MANGROVE MOUNTAIN MEM. CLUB TOWN PLATE C1 (1100 METRES)

2. Incarcerated bounced off a heavy track failure to score a comfortable all the way win over 1200m here two weeks ago when an odds-on favourite. Has the chance to lead again here and should take some running down.

Dangers: 1. Flying Rani has found one better in both runs this time in and hit the line well into that second placing here last time. Expect she’ll settle back again and look to launch. One of the chances. 4. Iconic Treasure resumes for his second preparation and showed a bit of promise earlier this year so will be one to watch. Trialled okay at Warwick Farm recently and has to be respected. 7. She’s All It likes to lead and boxed on okay at her last couple over slightly longer trips. Back to the shorter course she’s worth entertaining.

How to play it: Incarcerated WIN ($4.80 TAB Fixed Odds).
