Wyong will open the Provincial Championships series with the first of five qualifiers run on the Central Coast on Thursday 23 February.
Wyong Race Club’s $150,000 qualifying race allows first, second and third placegetters to gain a berth in the $400,000 Provincial Championships Final (1400m) run Royal Randwick on Saturday April 8.
WRC’s CEO, David Jewell, said today: “The Club and our local trainers are looking forward to the third running of the Provincial Championships here on Thursday fortnight. The series gets bigger and better each year.”
Last year’s Provincial Championships Qualifier at Wyong was a thrilling contest with the Kim Waugh-trained Supreme Effort narrowly defeating stablemate His Majesty.
Hawkesbury Race Club has its Championships Day on Thursday 2 March, with Gosford (15 March), Kembla Grange (23 March) and Newcastle (29 March) to follow.
Each of the 12 race clubs staging a Country or Provincial Championships Day will host an excellent day of racing and live entertainment with a selection of food and beverages available.
Wyong has booked the Trent Crawford Duo and they will be providing the entertainment between races on the front lawn throughout the afternoon. The Club also has tickets available for just $20 per person to the Carlton Champions Marquee on Championships Day.
Tickets can be purchased online through WRC and includes gate entry ($10), exclusive access to Wyong’s new Parade Ring Marquee, a complimentary drink on arrival and an MC with guest interviews and prize draws throughout the afternoon. A cash bar and BBQ is also available with gates opening at 12 noon and the first race at 1:20pm.
The Murray Doyle members’ luncheon is already fully booked out in what is set to be a bumper day at Wyong.
