World's Best Winx Welcomes Spring At Royal Randwick

Spring is in the air for Tattersalls Club Chelmsford Stakes Day at Royal Randwick this Saturday as the world’s best horse on turf Winx aims for a 19th consecutive win in the Group 2 $250,000 Tattersalls Club Chelmsford Stakes.

Sydney’s super mare lines up as the $1.08 TAB Fixed Odds favourite after her stunning last-to-first win in the Bob Ingham Warwick Stakes.

The Warwick Stakes, held two weeks prior to the Tattersalls Club Chelmsford Stakes has been a good guide in recent years, with winners of both races including Kingston Town (1980 and 1981), March Hare (1994), Filante (1996) and Lonhro (2003).

Patrons at Royal Randwick on Saturday can support Winx with a free collector’s item flag, handed out by ATC staff before the race.

Winx caps and stubbie holders will also be available for purchase at outlets in the general public and Members Reserve.

Sense of Occasion for Kris Lees is on the second line of betting at $17.00 TAB Fixed Odds. The seven-year-old, placed in the Group 1 The Star Doncaster Hcp and Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes in the Sydney Autumn, returns after a-12 week spell and two barrier trials.

Sydney’s seven-time premiership winning trainer Chris Waller has his star Winx competing against five stablemates including Life Less Ordinary ($23 TAB Fixed Odds) whose four Australian starts have resulted in a win and three seconds.

The Sydney Princess Series for three-year-old fillies continues with the Group 2 $200,000 Furious Stakes.

Formality ($3.70 TAB Fixed Odds), trained by David & Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, won the first leg, the 2GB Silver Shadow Stakes, on 19 August.

Punters have shown support for the Bjorn Baker-trained Champagne Cuddles ($3.20 TAB Fixed Odds) who finished third in that race.

The final two races in the series are the Group 2 $200,000 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) on 16 September and the Group 1 $500,000 Flight Stakes (1600m) on 30 September.   Racegoers are able to purchase an exclusive pre-sale offer of five tickets for only $40 at Ticketek.com.au ahead of Saturday. Adult general admission tickets are available for $15.00 at the gate.

Free car parking is available inside the racecourse and buses run between Eddy Avenue at Central Station and Royal Randwick racecourse.
