My Cousin Bossy could be headed for Grafton's big carnival next month if he can maintain his perfect record on wet tracks at Murwillumbah on Sunday.

Trained at Ballina by Steven Phelps, My Cousin Bossy is chasing back-to-back wins when he lines up in the Condong Men's Bowling Club Cup (1200m).

The four-year-old is coming off a last-start win at Grafton on May 19 on a track rated a heavy 9 and should get conditions to suit again on Sunday with the likelihood of a track in the soft range at Murwillumbah. Our Cousin Bossy is unbeaten in three runs on soft ground and one on heavy conditions.

"He certainly loves the wet tracks and he should be hard to beat again if he gets those conditions again at Murwillumbah," said Phelps. "He has drawn out a bit (barrier 12) on Sunday, but I'm not that concerned - I'm sure Ben (Looker) will handle it."

Phelps was keeping his cards close to his chest, but he is eyeing off the Grafton carnival on July 12-13 if Our Cousin Bossy pleases him at Murwillumbah.

"I've got a race in mind for him at Grafton during their July carnival, but I'll see what happens at Murwillumbah first," he said.

Phelps rates the John Shelton-trained Cash Spinner and the Stephen Lee-trained Hydrazine as the two rivals that look the hardest to beat in Sunday's race.

Hydrazine rarely runs a bad race when he ventures to Murwillumbah and is also very effective on wet ground. Hydrazine has drawn gate six and will be ridden by 1.5kg-claiming apprentice Jag Guthmann-Chester.

Cash Spinner, to be ridden by Matt Paget, goes into Sunday's race second-up after he made ground first-up over an unsuitable 1000m dash at Casino on May 26.

Topweight for Sunday's race is the former crack Brisbane sprinter Rock Royalty, brilliant winner of the 2015 Ramornie Hcp at Grafton in a sizzling 1.07.87, but unplaced in his 15 subsequent starts.

Trainer Liam Birchley took Rock Royalty south for the Wagga Town Plate on May 4 to kick-start this campaign but the eight-year-old failed to fire and finished last of the 16 runners behind winner Santa Ana Lane.

Jockey Chris Whiteley will be reunited with Rock Royalty on Sunday for the first time since his only previous ride on the gelding when they combined for that stunning Ramornie victory two years ago.
