Warwick Farm Winners - Tips For Wednesday 4th September

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Wednesday’s Warwick Farm meeting. Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 - 1:25PM ALL TOO HARD @ VINERY STUD HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

7. Rantan showed a lot of promise in her first preparation winning on debut then not beaten far at Rosehill in an open two-year-old race. Ran down Blanc De Blanc to win her second trial and shapes as though 1200m will suit fresh. Go well.

Dangers: 6. Lilac was involved in a two-horse war for most of the 1200m first-up and prevailed by three-quarters of a length. Runner-up was a narrow winner at Kembla Grange last weekend. Has the upside and sure to be competitive again. 1. Private Life was rested after a nice maiden win here back in May. Rises 5kg on that, fitter for two trials and has barrier one. Include in the chances. 2. Declichy Boulevard was also a last start winner at this track, on heavy ground in early June, and resumes with the one public trial. Has to produce on top of the ground and is in the mix if she can.

How to play it: Rantan WIN ($5.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 2 - 2:00PM TAB HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

4. Monte Veebee was runner-up in both starts at two and returned two weeks ago with a luckless seventh behind Enriched. Didn’t get a shot at them at all but found the line well when the race was over. Should appreciate getting out in distance and is hard to beat.

Dangers: 2. Duvana was placed behind Storm Boy in the Skyline and is a big watch first-up since failing on the heavy in the Sires’. Has the 3kg claim and a handy draw and he’s capable of a big run. 3. Mr Artemisia showed some ability with placings at his first three starts before a midfield finish in the G1 JJ Atkins behind Broadsiding. A couple of quiet trials so keep an eye on betting for a push. 5. Johnny The Kid has been in the market in both runs back for third placings at Hawkesbury and Kensington. May be looking for the extra trip and has each-way claims.

How to play it: Monte Veebee WIN ($3.80 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 3 - 2:35PM INGLIS READY2RACE SALE 15 OCT HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

1. Deprivation couldn’t have been more impressive in an easy all the way win first-up at Newcastle last month. Good margins back through the field say it was a dominant win. Gets in with a similar weight after the claim and should be hard to run down.

Dangers: 2. Sir Artie has switched stables since his eye-catching second-up effort at Randwick where he ran some slick sectionals behind Willaidow a few weeks back. Chance to find his best form here. 5. The Replicant continues to race well without winning and did all the chasing when third at Canterbury last week. Was back 300m in trip there and should be around the mark again. 6. Misterkipchoge hasn’t raced since June when midfield in a 2000m event on a heavy track at Randwick. Form last time in was mixed but this lacks the depth of some of those races. Has a show.

How to play it: Deprivation WIN ($2.70 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 4 - 3:10PM RANVET HANDICAP (2200 METRES)

3. Campaldino did more than enough first-up over a mile to suggest he can improve sharply up in distance. Was in the market here two weeks ago and made some late ground into fifth. Should be an improver and has to be respected.

Dangers: 5. Wagga Wagga ran his best race since arriving in Australia when running into second at Sandown three weeks ago over 2100m. Strikes a very winnable race and has strong claims. 6. McGeehan has been thereabouts since a win at Newcastle four runs back. Held his ground okay at Kembla Grange last time, trained here and always runs well on his home track. 4. Futtaim won a similar race three starts back so stays under notice returning to this grade after two even efforts at Randwick in Benchmark 78s.

How to play it: Campaldino WIN ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 5 - 3:45PM KERMADEC @ DARLEY HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

3. Bonita Queen is hard to go past after a runaway win over this course two weeks ago as an odds-on favourite. Only up 1kg for taking on the boys and she looks the leader again. Clearly will be the one to run down.

Dangers: 6. Party Doll backed up an easy Hawkesbury win with an even effort up in class behind Headwall at Kensington three weeks ago. Firmer track probably suits her and she’s one of the dangers. 2. Romeo’s Choice won here back on Australia Day and was honest in four subsequent runs before a spell. Fitter for two trials and while the trip is just below his best he’s usually run well fresh. 4. Global Empire was back 300m in trip when a solid fourth here two weeks back. Drew wide and went back before running on okay. Should be closer to the speed from the inside gate and that gives him a chance.

How to play it: Bonita Queen WIN ($1.70 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 6 - 4:20PM DRINKWISE MILE (1600 METRES)

3. Influential has been a beaten favourite in two runs back over this trip and was unfortunate not to win in the latest where she was denied narrowly. No harder here, drawn ideally and gets her chance to go one better.

Dangers: 6. Gold Pattern has been racing well this time in and proved a touch too strong late when winning a Midway at Rosehill. Settles back and runs on and is one of the chances in an open race. 4. Leica Storm hasn’t raced since leading all the way over this course back on April 1. Put a nice gap on them in that win and while first-up record is only fair he could give a sight if he finds the lead. 5. Serene Nic was impressive scoring here two runs back then perhaps the heavy track was against him at Kensington. Had a quiet trial last week and could easily bounce back.

How to play it: Influential WIN ($3.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 7 - 4:55PM JAMES SQUIRE HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

3. Watch My Girl has a handy record and this trip suits fresh since an even fifth on a heavy track at Randwick back in June where she drew wide and went forward. Nice recent trial winner and has drawn to have every chance.

Dangers: 4. Little Jeanie was beaten a couple of times at a short price last time in but wasn’t far away in her first four runs before failing at 2000m on a heavy track. Expect she’ll run a handy race fresh and could take holding out. 13. Aeliana had support at her second start and was a bit too strong winning at 1150m at Kensington three weeks ago. Scratched from a Group 3 last weekend and stays under notice here. 11. Manhattan’s is racing well and tried hard when chasing home Deprivation at Newcastle second-up. Nicely drawn and no surprise if she measures up.

How to play it: Watch My Girl WIN ($4.60 TAB Fixed Odds).
