Racing NSW has been informed of the passing of Mr Ron Towell, 82, a prominent owner and breeder of Thoroughbreds.
"Dad was a very active owner and breeder in the racing industry since the mid 80s when he started out with a number of horses in the Kerry Walker stable," said Ron's son, Mark.
"He owned notable Group One winners such as Row of Waves who won the Doncaster, Cimarra who took out the South Australian Oaks and most recently he was owner and breeder of the Mark Newnham-trained Nakeeta Jane who won the Surround Stakes.
"Dad also had great success with owning horses such as Montana Flyer Lustre Lady, Montana Sands and Montana Sunset, to name just a few.
"He went out on a limb and purchased the property GT Park in the mid 80s and oversaw its development into what it is today."
Mr Towell still had input into the farm right up until his passing, which son Mark now manages.
Ron passed away peacefully at hospital on 9th September with his family at his bedside.
