Racing NSW has been informed of the passing of well-known bloodstock agent, Mr Anton Koolman.
Mr Koolman, 82, died peacefully on the weekend surrounded by his wife and family.
Anton was born in New Zealand and after initially being involved in the equestrian industry, became a successful thoroughbred bloodstock agent.
His early successes included the purchases of Let's Elope (Caulfield & Melbourne Cups), Richfield Lady (Victoria Oaks) and stayer Stony Bay (Gr 1 Ranvet Stakes & Gr 1 The BMW).
In 2010 Hermitage Thoroughbreds was formed and with son Oliver, they enjoyed great success securing Champion 3yo The Autumn Sun and dual Oaks winner Egg Tart.
Anton also purchased and part-owned Group I-winning fillies Youngstar and Funstar for a group that included his great friends Arthur and Charlotte Inglis.
Mr Koolman is survived by his wife Marg and sons Oliver, Miles and Andrew.
