Trainer Jamie Richards reported to Racing NSW Stewards that Melody Belle, an acceptor in the Group 1 Kia Tancred Stakes at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday, was found to have tied-up (a severe muscle contraction) after galloping on the Kensington Track this morning.
Mr Richards advised the mare, which arrived in Sydney on Monday morning, had previously experienced similar episodes following work and had responded well to the treatment the mare is currently receiving.
Veterinarians will continue to monitor the mare, including reviewing blood results, to ensure the Melody Belle is suitable to race, which will be done in consultation with Racing NSW General Manager of Veterinary Services, Dr Toby Koenig.
