Trainer James Cummings – Hearing Of Charge – Canterbury Stakes

Racing NSW Stewards have considered the certification from two Official Racing Laboratories that the urine sample taken from Savatiano after winning the Canterbury Stakes conducted at Royal Randwick on 6 March 2021 was found to contain trendione, trenbolone and epitrenbolone.

On Tuesday 14 December 2021 Racing NSW Stewards inquired into the findings and received submissions on behalf of trainer Mr James Cummings and Godolphin Australia on 17 January 2022 in respect to the findings.

On 19 January 2022 Racing NSW Stewards issued a charge against Mr Cummings under AR240(2) in that as the trainer of Savatiano he presented the mare to race at Randwick on 6 March 2021 and a sample taken post-race was found to contain the prohibited substances trendione, trenbolone and epitrenbolone.

The hearing of the charge is scheduled to be conducted at 2pm on Tuesday 1 March 2022 at the offices of Racing NSW.

At the hearing the Stewards shall also give consideration to the provisions of AR240(1) and if Savatiano should be disqualified from the Canterbury Stakes conducted on 6 March 2021.
