TAB has taken it’s biggest ever bet on Winx ahead of her return in the Chipping Norton Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday, with one confident punter placing $108,000 on the champion mare to win at $1.06.

It surpasses the previous largest of $106,500 at $1.15 to win the 2017 Cox Plate.

“It doesn’t matter what price she is, the punters just want to be on her to win, similar to the days of Black Caviar,” said TAB’s Gerard Middleton.

Hugh Bowman gave Winx the tick of approval having paired with the star six-year-old in her final piece of work on Thursday morning at Rosehill Gardens in front of her connections and media.

“She is more settled," Bowman said, "That suggests to me she is a happier in her own skin. Trying to determine if she better or worse, until we get to the races and see her perform, it’s a question we can’t answer but mentally and physically she couldn’t be in a better position."

“I think she is more excited about race day than we are. She has been going really nicely all preparation and this morning suggested she is ready to go to the races."
