Sydney Spring Carnival Kicks Off At Rosehill Gardens

The 2017 Sydney Spring Carnival will begin with Run To The Rose Day at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday, 9 September, where this season’s best three-year-old’s will showcase their credentials.

Racegoers are able to celebrate all of the colour and excitement of spring racing at an affordable price when pre-purchasing their tickets. Patrons who buy five general admission tickets will receive the sixth free for only $75 theRaces.com.au.

All valid pre-purchased tickets and ATC Members cards include free transport NSW services to ensure a hassle free arrival and departure from Rosehill Gardens.

On the track, all eyes will be on the Group 2 $200,000 Run To The Rose, which has an honour roll of impressive three-year-old’s who have gone on to greater heights both on the track, and off the track at stud.

The sprint has become a vital winning lead-up race to the Group 1 $1 million De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose (23 September) with Paratroopers (2005), Denman (2009), Hallowed Crown (2014) and Exosphere (2015) and Astern (2016) all going forward to win Sydney Spring’s richest race for the three-year-old sprinters.

This renewal has Gerald Ryan-trained Menari open as the $2.80 TAB Fixed Odds favourite in an open market. The son of Snitzel returned to the track in good form at Rosehill Gardens on 12 August, and went on to claim a 1.3 length win in The Rosebud.

Pariah ($3.00 TAB Fixed Odds), for Snowden Racing has also been entered. The colt recorded a smart 1 length win in the San Domenico Stakes on 26 August.

The Group 2 $200,000 Kari Stan Fox Stakes is another key lead in race to the Golden Rose on 23 September, with five of the last seven winners running in this event. Denman (2009) and Manawanui (2011) however have been the only two in recent times to claim the Stan Fox/Golden Rose double.

Bjorn Baker will be hoping to add Addictive Nature to that list and has opened as the $2.60 TAB Fixed Odds favourite following his narrow win in the Ming Dynasty on 26 August. This will be the first time the colt steps up to 1500m.

The Group 2 $200,000 Theo Marks Stakes is another quality race which will carry ballot exemption into the Group 1 $1 million TAB Epsom for the victor of this test.

Group 1 winning mare Egg Tart, for Chris Waller, leads the betting at $2.70 TAB Fixed Odds. The Sebring mare will return to racing for the first time in 3 months and be looking for her seventh consecutive win this start.

Adult general admission tickets are available for $15.30 at theRaces.com.au or $20.00 at the gate. Gates Open at 11.00am with the first race at 12.10pm.

Rosehill Gardens has free high-capacity Wi-Fi across the racecourse precinct.

There is free public parking off James Ruse Drive as well as free parking in the infield from the Unwin Road entrance.
