Australian Turf Club Chairman, Peter McGauran has today welcomed the move to Sydney by leading trainer Ciaron Maher and his stable’s further investment in Sydney racing amid the state’s growing prizemoney.
Ciaron Maher Racing has increased its Sydney base – including 26 on-course ATC boxes at Warwick Farm – citing the “unprecedented growth’’ of Sydney racing.
Mr McGauran said the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable’s expansion, coupled with Mr Maher’s personal base in Sydney, would see more runners on Australian Turf Club and other NSW courses across the year.
“We are very pleased to see that significant increases in prizemoney offered by Racing NSW and the ATC are bringing more horses, owners and trainers to prepare and race on our tracks," Mr McGauran said.
“The ATC has an ambition in Sydney to continue to be the very best racing jurisdiction in Australia and this confidence of a major stable such as Maher and Eustace is another example of NSW racing’s growth and strength."
Mr Maher has established a personal base in Sydney to take closer supervision and training of the stable’s extra number of horses in training at Warwick Farm.
