On 3 March 2017 and 13 April 2017, Racing NSW Stewards conducted an inquiry in respect to complaints received about the operation of the Australian Turf Club (ATC) Mounted Security Division.
During the course of the two days, evidence was taken from a number of persons that had provided witness statements. Final submissions on behalf of the ATC employees that had been complained against were provided to the Stewards on 28 April 2017. After considering the evidence the Stewards have issued the following charges.
Ms Michelle Steele – ATC Mounted Security Co-ordinator AR175(q) - 2 charges of improper conduct in respect to her conduct regarding the care and welfare of horses in the ATC Mounted Security Division. AR175(o) - 2 charges of failing to provide veterinary treatment where veterinary treatment was necessary for horses in the ATC Mounted Security Division. AR175A - 1 charge of conduct prejudicial to the image of racing for a number of offences including failing to provide veterinary care, treatment and stabling conditions for horses in the ATC Mounted Security Division.
Mr Dennis Mitchell – ATC General Manager Security, Risk and Investigations AR175(o) - 2 charges of failing to provide veterinary treatment where veterinary treatment was necessary for horses in the ATC Mounted Security Division. AR175A - 1 charge of conduct prejudicial to the image of racing for a number of offences including failing to provide veterinary care, treatment and stabling conditions for horses in the ATC Mounted Security Division.
A hearing of the charges will be scheduled for a time and date to be fixed. The Stewards shall then provide further information in respect to the matter, including any recommendations in regards to the operation of the ATC Mounted Security Division.
