Mr Kris Lees, trainer of BERETTA which is accepted to start in Race 6 (no.1) at Warwick Farm tomorrow, has advised Racing NSW Stewards that it is the intention from the widest barrier (15) to have the horse ridden back in the field.
Mr Lees explained the decision to have Beretta ridden in this manner is based on the following:
1) An anticipated strong tempo, which potentially could result in the horse racing wide and without cover; 2) In an endeavour to offset the wide barrier connections were keen to have the horse ridden more conservatively in the hope that in would provide Beretta with an opportunity to finish the race off as best as it is able; 3) That the gelding at its most recent start was unable to obtain the lead from an awkward barrier despite the riders efforts and was not suited when obliged to travel three-wide and was disappointing in the manner in which weakened over the final 200m.
