Gerald Ryan admitted Samantha not only compared favourably to Snitzerland early in her career but is also one of the best wet trackers he has put a saddle on after she won the Listed Fireball Stakes at Randwick.
“When she was a late two-year-old I said to George (Altomonte) this could be the best Snitzel filly I’ve had since Snitzerland,” said Ryan.
“Then she almost got to a race and she started to feel the pinch and drop away. We only gave her the one run at Hawkesbury and turned her out. She’s come back stronger.”
“She is as good a wet tracker as I’ve seen at home. She just ploughs through it.”
Samantha added a valuable stakes win to her CV
The filly, who only won her maiden this preparation, will now head towards the Group Three PJ Bell Stakes on the first day of The Championships.
“The whole aim has been the TJ Bell. She is in the Arrowfield and I don’t think she is up to that class but she’s a stakes winner now for Mr Alomonti. She is a bonny little filly that just tries her heart out.”
