Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing is gearing up for another successful Bathurst Cup race meeting this Friday. With a bumper eight races on the card, the feature race, the Bathurst Cup sees a record $50,000 prizemoney on offer with strong support from a cross section of trainers with nine runners from metropolitan, provincial and country stables.
‘Uncle Sugar’ looks a very good chance in the race after an easy 2.3 lengths win in the Cowra Cup last start and is being ridden by champion country jockey Greg Ryan.
The Club would like to thank its key sponsors and supporters on the day, The Kings Hotel Bathurst, Watermart, Club Lithgow, Lithgow Furniture and Bedding, Edney Ryan Group, Markey Saddlery and also the Condon and Hayley Families and Miss Traill’s House who have given their support since Legends Day inception five years ago.
“We have received incredible support from our sponsors which will ensure that Friday’s meeting is truly memorable,” said Michelle Tarpenning, BTR's General Manager.
"The Legends Day initiative has become a landmark event on the country NSW racing calendar," said Tarpenning, noting that each year has attracted stronger nominations and this year's Showcase meeting has seen an incredibly strong field of acceptors which will ensure a great afternoon of racing.
This year there is a Beach Bonanza theme where the Club encourages everyone to wear their favourite Hawaiian shirt and enjoy the free sausage sizzle. Gates open at 11am, first race starting at 1:20pm.
