Royal Randwick hosts a Sydney long weekend of racing starting Saturday with the running of the Listed $150,000 June Stakes on the course proper before a public holiday Monday meeting on the Kensington track.
Saturday’s nine-race card has again seen large acceptances with 126 runners, continuing several Saturdays post-Sydney Autumn Carnival with strong fields and a number of wide-open betting races.
The highly promising Godolphin sprinter Deprive to be ridden by Rachel King is the early $2.10 TAB fixed odds favourite in the June Stakes, ahead of Hawkes Racing’s Heart Conquered ($5) for jockey Jay Ford. Less than half a length separated the pair last start in a thrilling finish over the same track and distance.
Bon Amis who has won seven of its 15 starts including three first up from a spell resumes for trainer Jason Deamer and jockey Christian Reith at $6.
The Royal Randwick track was rated a soft 7 on Thursday morning following 44mm of rainfall over the racecourse since Tuesday morning.
