The first Saturday race day for the New Year will be hosted at Royal Randwick this Saturday, 6 January.
The decision was made to shift the scheduled fixture from Warwick Farm due to extreme hot weather conditions forecast in Western Sydney over the weekend.
Guests will receive free entry to the track this Saturday to enjoy the nine race program which includes the TAB Handicap for two-year-olds which will provide an early form indicator in the lead up to the world’s richest two-year-old race, the Group 1 $3.5million Longines Golden Slipper.
Reigning 2017 Golden Slipper winning trainer, Gary Portelli has entered Now or Never, who sits at the top of the betting ($4.60 TAB Fixed Odds).
The filly has been nominated for the Longines Golden Slipper and will have her second race start following her debut run in September 2017.
Mark Newnham-trained Canyonero closely follows in the market at $5.00 TAB Fixed Odds. The Pierro progeny will also line up for his second career start following his third place debut at Royal Randwick in The Inglis Nursery on 16 December.
