Australian Turf Club has received a bumper 131 acceptances for Sydney Markets Foundation Raceday this Saturday (6th May) at Rosehill Gardens, the first meeting at the track since the Longines Golden Slipper Carnival.
Saturday is the first race meeting in six weeks at the Western Sydney venue since Legends Day on 25 March.
Rosehill Gardens Racecourse Manager, Chris Toogood, said the break in racing and better weather conditions has allowed track staff to help the course proper recover from a very wet Sydney Autumn Carnival.

“The track has come up well from all of the wear and tear over the three week Longines Golden Slipper Carnival," Mr Toogood said.
“We have been oversewing rye grass to the track as well as fertilising with some granular and liquid feed to get the surface in good condition ahead of this Saturday. At this stage we should be racing on a Good surface and the rail will be in the True position."
Punters cannot spilt Allergic and New Tipperary in the feature race of the day, the Listed $150,000 Sydney Markets Limited Lord Mayor’s Cup. Both runners have opened at $5 TAB Fixed Odds in a competitive field.
The John O’Shea-trained Allergic will appreciate the improved track conditions with jockey William Buick citing that his mount was “not all that comfortable on the heavy track” in his third placed run on 18 March.
New Tipperary, trained by Joseph Pride, will be looking to improve on the fifth place he finished in the Group 3 Japan Racing Association Plate on 15 April. The gelding drew the far outside barrier and was forced to work early in the race.
Astronomous ($6 TAB Fixed Odds) for John Thompson also contested the 2000m race and finished just ahead of New Tipperay in fourth despite a post race veterinary examination revealing the six-year-old displayed the thumps.
Racegoers are able to purchase an exclusive pre-sale offer of five tickets for only $40 at Ticketek.com.au Adult general admission tickets are available for $15 at the gate. Gates Open at 10.45am with the first race at 11.40am.
