Racing NSW Stewards Release - Trainer Ben Smith

Racing NSW Stewards are in receipt of certification from two Official Racing Laboratories, namely the National Measurement Institute and Racing Analytical Services Limited, that the following post-race urine samples taken horses that were trained by Ben Smith have returned a level of cobalt above that excepted by AR178C(1)(l) of 100ug/L.

1. Iron Duke - Newcastle 25 August 2018
Placed 1st Race 2 - Maiden Plate 1885m

2. Elaborate - Wyong 26 August 2018
Placed 1st Race 1 – Class 1 Handicap 1600m

Further analysis is currently being conducted on out-of-competition samples that were taken on Tuesday, 11 September 2018 from horses that were trained by Mr Smith.

A Stewards inquiry shall be scheduled once the results of the out-of-competition samples have been provided and Racing NSW Stewards have completed their examination of forensic material and conducted interviews of persons of interest.
