Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Spring Champion Stakes Day

Tom Kitten finally had a change of luck in the feature Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Royal Randwick on Saturday, and he bolted in.

The race was run at a fast pace, with Punter's Intelligence recording leader Raf Attack running the first 1400m in 1:25.45, and on a day where no leaders won, forgive him.

Trainer, James Cummings, had Tom Kitten spot on for his grand final and jockey Adam Hyeronimus gave the colt a perfect ride.

Further, he had him smothered away throughout transit, and once he presented him in the straight, he put his rivals away. He clocked his final 400m/200m in 23.60/12.06.

The Godolphin galloper will now spell and expect him to return improved for his Autumn campaign.

Cap Ferrat was solid in defeat and ran on well into second, recording a 12.23 for his final 200m, which was approximately only one length inferior to the winner.

Ganbare was brave in defeat and the best of the on-pace runners.

The lone filly Tutta La Vita was 28 days between runs and sprinted the race's quickest 600m-400m split in 11.42 but just peaked on her run over the concluding stages.

We saw a thrilling finish in the $2M Invitation (1400m), and Espiona kept finding under pressure to score.

The mare raced wide with cover, albeit run to suit, but made a long sustained sprint and ran the race's fastest final 600m in 34.43.

She has run consistently this preparation, and the form out of the TAB Everest (1200m) has now been confirmed.

Runner-up Ruthless Dame never shirked her task to the line and clocked the race's quickest final 200m in 11.83.

Magic Time, who was heavily backed late in the trade, was extremely brave in defeat after being caught three-wide out on a limb throughout and was working in the high-pressure event.

Further, she travelled 1409.2m, ran the equal fourth-fastest final 200m in 12.06 and kept trying all the way to the line. Her run was full of merit and follow her.

Alcohol Free ran a much improved race down in grade after sitting outside the leader and held on for fourth.

It's worth noting some sectional standout performers on the day, including Territory Express in the Benchmark 78 event over 1600m.

The gelding had too much to do after getting too far back and also the race shape against.

Once clear at the top of the straight, he showed his customary powerful late finish, and he savaged the line with him, clocking some of the meeting's fastest final 600m/400m/200m splits in 33.86/22.54/11.44.

He is starting to make a habit out of missing the start, but he is still learning and is an improver.

Mumbai Muse broke her maiden in the Brian Crowley Stakes (1200m) after showing a sharp turn of foot and maintaining a strong finishing speed to the line. She sprinted the races quickest 400m-200m in 10.96 and final 200m in 11.57.

Midnight Opal was rising sharply in grade, and he got shuffled back into an awkward position before the turn.

To his credit, he picked up well and reeled off the equal quickest final 600m in 33.71.

Gringotts saluted for favourite punters in the final event after he overcame difficulties to clock one of the meetings fastest final 200m sectionals in 11.47.
