Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Run To The Rose Day

Godolphin galloper In Secret became the first filly to win the Group 2 Run To The Rose (1200m) and stamped herself as the benchmark three-year-old for this season thus far.

The lightly raced improver was visually impressive, and she did it in style with the clock backing up her performance. Further, Punter’s Intelligence recorded her late strength and sectional merit.

The race was run at an even tempo with Best Of Bordeaux leading and running the first 600m in 35.94.

Jockey Tommy Berry changed whip hands at the furlong pole, and when he asked In Secret for a superior effort, she exploded away to run the fastest final 200m split of the meeting in 11.23.

She is a nice type on an upwards ratings spiral, continue to follow her.

Reigning dual Group 1 winner Fireburn was solid in her return after getting too far back and ran the race quickest 600m-200m split in 22.14.

The Gary Portelli runner will be fitter for that effort, and her sectional profile suggests she is on track for future assignments.

Sejardan had too much to do after being restrained early from a wide-draw and hit the line well. He ran the race’s second fastest final 200m sectional in 11.61.

Promitto is set to improve third-up and Nettuno had no luck.

Golden Mile was a dominant winner in the Group 3 Ming Dynasty Quality (1400m), and the race rated highly relative to the day after adjusting for age, class and additional factors.

Rise Of The Masses led at a fast tempo running the first 800m in 48.09, which was approximately 15 lengths quicker than the TAB Highway (1400m).

The James Cummings trained colt had every chance but still did it and put his rivals away easily. In addition, he ran his final 400m split in 22.87 and was strong through the line.

He is progressive and will undoubtedly improve with the race experience.

Basquiat was solid, holding on for third after chasing the fast tempo and is ready to peak third-up.

Flag Of Honour was first-up and ran on well. Moreover, he was run to suit but clocked the second fastest final 200m split in 11.65.

Follow him over further distance and deeper into his preparation.

Forgiving of the well fancied Zou Tiger after having to do plenty of work second-up in the high-pressure event.

Kiku settled at the rear of the field, and whilst other runners had excuses, she flew down the centre to score in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes in strong overall time.

The Chris Waller trained galloper ran one of the fastest final 600m sectionals of the entire meeting in 33.34.

Mr Mozart was outstanding in defeat after sitting three wide without cover, working in a genuine tempo and never shirked his task to the line. That effort will set a solid platform for his preparation.

Jamaea loomed to win running 11.01 for her 400m-200m split before peaking on her run and Kementari clocked the races second fastest final 600m in 33.85.

Kipsbay ran his rivals ragged in the Midway Handicap (1200m) and ran serious overall time for a Benchmark 72 in 1:10:37.

To put that into perspective, he was only 1.5-2 lengths slower than both Group 2 winners In Secret and Shades Of Rose, who ran over the same distance.

Expect him to be hard to beat in another benchmark race next start.

It’s worth noting that consistent type Clemenceau, who raced fresh/keen, was checked and blocked at a critical stage.

However, he picked himself up and accelerated one of the fastest final 200m splits of the meeting in 11.27 in the Greg Davis Handicap (1100m).

Minsk Moment clocked the meeting’s fastest final 600m split in 33.17 and wasn’t suited by the pace of the race. He has returned well and will be fitter for that effort.

Fastest last 600m: Minsk Moment 33.17.
